Religious Persecution

Religious persecution is the mistreatment of an individual or group because of their religious beliefs and practices – or lack thereof. Examples of religious persecution can be traced to the beginning of civilization.

Nearly 75 percent of the world’s population lives in countries where there is some restriction on religious freedom, either from state or non-state actors. Unfortunately, it is often religious leaders who incite violence against other religious groups.
