Lara founded TGR as millions began fleeing Syria in 2011. Her work focuses on conflict, displacement, civilian protection, and international humanitarian law. Lara is the author of several field-based books, is an international speaker, and she generously donates a portion of book and speaking revenue directly to fund TGR’s educational programs. She has worked with international institutions, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court.
Chad Thornson
Deputy Director
Chad’s work focuses on security and logistics in complex operational environments, drawing on extensive experience across Africa, the Middle East, and Afghanistan. He has worked with international institutions, including the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Jason Nzari
Advisor
Jason brings more than two decades of experience in security and logistics across Haiti, Africa, Turkey, Syria, Gaza, and the Philippines. He has worked with international institutions, including the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and International Relations.
Alex Whitson
Advisor
Alex has served in the Middle East and North Africa region for more than fifteen years as a crisis investigator and legal counsel. He has worked with international institutions, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court. He holds a J.D. with a focus on International Humanitarian Law.
